Haywoods Permanent Way

a local society for people interested in all aspects of railways

About Us

The Haywoods Permanent Way (HPW) was founded in 1988 by a group of 12 like-minded enthusiasts with a diverse interest in railways past and present.

Meetings are held at regular intervals throughout the year at The Sports and Social Club, Main Road, Great Haywood ST18 0SU. Members of HPW come from not only the Haywoods but from Stafford, Rugeley and further afield. We enjoy a wide variety of of illustrated presentations from guest speakers covering many railway subjects and themes. These include steam, modern traction, overseas and the preservation scene. Narrow gauge railways are not neglected either! Details of forthcoming events can be seen on our Programme page.

In 2002, we expanded into the area of model railways by aquiring a room in Rugeley for work on layouts, locos and models etc. We hold a very successful Model Railway Exhibition bi-yearly in the Memorial Hall, Great Haywood.

HPW membership fees are very reasonable. If you are interested in joining us please come along to one of our monthly meetings where you will be made very welcome. Benefits of membership include admission to our monthly meetings together with copies of our newsletter which contains details of events and news items. Please contact our Treasurer, Jenny Lowe, for further information.
